Job summary

GSM Services seeks a dedicated Commercial Roofing Estimator to join our Roofing department. In this full-time role, you will prepare accurate cost estimates for diverse commercial projects, interpreting plans and collaborating with engineers, architects, and clients to address challenges and ensure competitive proposals.

You will conduct site visits, source pricing, and support pre-bid activities while upholding safety and quality standards. A CM/engineering background is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in commercial roofing estimating role that demonstrates accuracy and reliability.
• Strong knowledge of various commercial roofing systems, materials, and construction methods.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with estimating software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Exceptional mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English to liaise with clients, vendors, and team members.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and relevant building codes applicable to commercial roofing projects.
• Experience conducting site visits and measurements is highly preferred.
• A degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or a related field is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and interpret project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial roofing projects.
• Consult with engineers, architects, and clients to discuss project specifications and address any potential challenges.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to measure and assess specific project requirements.
• Research and obtain competitive pricing for materials, labor, and equipment needed to complete various roofing projects.
• Provide detailed proposals and estimates in alignment with company standards and project timelines.
• Collaborate with the sales and project management teams to communicate pricing strategies and ensure alignment with client expectations.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current market conditions, roofing materials, and construction techniques.
• Support the department in value engineering and cost-saving strategies without compromising quality and safety.
• Utilize estimating software and other tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the estimating process.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and assist in securing profitable contracts for the company.
