Job summary

Orion Placement seeks an experienced foreman for our San Diego-based commercial door and gate team. You will lead crews in field installations, repairs, and maintenance of overhead doors, gates, and automatic doors, while ensuring quality and safety on every site.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in the field, with at least 4 years as a technician and 3+ years as a foreman or lead, and can work independently with little supervision.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of direct commercial door and gate field experience required.
• 4+ years of hands-on technician experience required.
• 3+ years of foreman or lead experience required.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot operators, controls, and safety devices.
• Must reside in San Diego or Orange County or be willing to relocate and work locally.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial overhead door, gate, and automatic door installations, repairs, and maintenance in the field.
• Direct crews on active job sites and keep projects organized, productive, safe, and on schedule.
• Install and service commercial overhead doors, vehicle gates, pedestrian gates, automatic doors, operators, controls, and safety devices.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, operator, control, and safety-device issues without supervision.
• Read and interpret plans, shop drawings, specifications, and submittals and install work accordingly.
• Coordinate field activities and communicate effectively with customers, contractors, project teams, and crew members.
• Identify job-site problems early and take ownership of practical solutions.
• Ensure work is completed accurately, professionally, and to commercial standards.
• Mentor technicians and provide hands-on field leadership when needed.

Pay: $42.00 - $50.00 per hour

Location: Field-based and on-site in San Diego, California. Candidates currently located in San Diego or Orange County are encouraged to apply, and qualified candidates willing to relocate to work locally will also be considered.

Note: This is a senior trade position, not a general construction foreman role. Candidates must have 7+ years of direct commercial door and gate field experience, including at least 4 years as a technician and 3+ years as a foreman or lead. You must be able to independently install, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial overhead doors, gates, and automatic doors without supervision.

• 3+ years of commercial door or gate foreman or lead experience required.
• Strong hands-on experience with commercial overhead doors, vehicle gates, pedestrian gates, and automatic doors.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot operators, controls, and safety devices.
• Strong knowledge of commercial installation, repair, and maintenance practices.
• Ability to read plans, shop drawings, specifications, and submittals.
• Proven ability to lead crews and keep field projects on schedule.
• Valid California driver's license and clean driving record required.
• Must reside in San Diego or Orange County or be willing to relocate and work locally.
