As an intern with Southern Power’s Commercial Optimization, Trading, and Transmission (COT&T) team, you’ll gain exposure to our generation portfolio—including solar, wind, battery storage, and natural gas—and learn how these assets are managed across multiple wholesale electricity markets.
We’re seeking a candidate who enjoys strategic thinking, data analysis, and collaborative problem-solving. You’ll work closely with market teams and the modeling and analytics group to support decision-making through data visualization and advanced analytics. We're also exploring the integration of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence into our trading strategies, and welcome innovative thinking in these areas.
Desired Degrees include: engineering, data science, economics, or comparable
Experience in PowerBI or Tableau is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required (TEAMS/SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
This position will be located in the Birmingham office (The Energy Center)
