Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Commercial Maintenance Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain machinery and equipment across facilities in the Atlanta area. You will work on conveyor systems, HVAC, motors, hydraulics, and related mechanical systems while performing preventative maintenance and safety checks.

The role requires at least a high school diploma or GED, with three years in industrial or building maintenance and experience in supervision, planning, and estimating.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum three years in industrial or building maintenance with supervision/planning experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals, write routine reports, and communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen for trouble symptoms.
  • Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts.
  • Examine parts for dimensional and surface imperfections.
  • Inspect used parts to detect changes in dimensions.
  • Adjust functional parts and control instruments for proper operation.
  • Repair or replace defective parts; install and lubricate components.
  • Start devices to test performance post-repair.
  • Perform general and preventative maintenance (plumbing, carpentry, cleaning, coil cleaning, belts, filters).

Job Description Summary

This position repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems, hydraulic sort equipment, motors, electrical systems, HVAC equipment and general facility upkeep by performing the following duties.

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Start devices to test their performance.
  • Performs other general maintenance (i.e. plumbing, carpentry, power washing) and preventative maintenance activities (coil cleaning, lubrication, belt adjustment and replacement, filter changes, etc.) as required.

REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Education and/or Experience):

Education: Possess a high school degree or an approved GED. A technical degree in Industrial Maintenance is preferred, but not required. Experience: Possess a minimum of three years experience in the Industrial or Building maintenance field, with experience in supervision, planning / scheduling, estimating, and hands-on facilities maintenance preferred. Accreditation: N/A Computer Skills: Some basic General Computer skills helpful. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with multiple customers. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.

The compensation for the position is: $23.80 - $28.00
