Job summary

Sherburne State Bank, Becker, MN, seeks a Commercial Loan Processor to support the Commercial Lending function. Job Description

This position provides clerical and administrative support to the Commercial Lending function of the bank with prompt and courteous customer service. The role handles more complex transactions and assignments in the loan processing area and is responsible for all Commercial and Consumer non‑real estate loan documentation, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, bank policies, and procedures. The candidate assists Loan Officers with tasks needed to close loans and maintain loan files, providing first‑level support to Loan Officers and branch staff regarding customer loan issues.


Job Responsibilities


  • Ensure accuracy in all functions performed and daily task completion.

  • Ensure loan documents are accurate and files are complete per bank policy and procedures and compliance.

  • Order title work, O&E reports, business documents, and other miscellaneous items for loan files.

  • Accurately input loans, account and file maintenance, and changes on the core system.

  • Perfect lien position on collateral held including real estate, vehicles, equipment and other items as needed.

  • Track and follow up of legal documents presented to the County Recorder, Auditor and Treasurer, DMV/DVS and DNR.

  • Verify tickler documentation is accurate for each file and follow up as necessary.

  • Manage UCCs and flood documents for critical loan information and renew, continue or terminate when needed.

  • Review reports daily, weekly, and monthly for errors, corrections, or missing information.

  • Manage loan and document tracking system for file completeness.

  • Accurately scan client information and documentation for commercial and consumer files.

  • Assist with loan inquiries, research requests and provide high‑quality internal and external customer service.

  • Actively suggest process, procedure, and policy changes to improve department function.

  • Provide insight into the process and procedures to assist leadership in overall organizational growth and sustainability.

  • Maintain transparency with leadership regarding departmental errors, needs, including time, resources, and education.

  • Develop and thoroughly understand procedures to identify potential fraud, risk, and exposure when assisting customers, branch staff, and leadership.

  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned to support department functionality.


Education & Experience


  • Desire and ability to learn new products and processes; actively seeks opportunities to improve the department.

  • Great attention to detail.

  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and as a team, and proceed with objectives under minimal supervision.

  • Ability to function in a high‑volume environment and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge and thorough understanding of the inner workings of loan accounts including set up, maintenance and payment processing.

  • Knowledge of bank regulations for commercial and consumer loans.

  • Excellent time management, organization and independent work abilities. Self‑starting, strong desire to learn and keen problem‑solving abilities.

  • Ability to multi‑task when presented with complex and involved projects.

  • Ability to resolve errors promptly and elevate to leadership as necessary.

  • Effective and tactful communication with customers, internal and external, maintaining good relations in day‑to‑day contact and handling complicated issues.

  • General math skills.

  • At least 1 year of commercial loan processing or similar processing experience.

  • Experience with loan origination platforms is highly desirable.
