Job summary

Global Credit Union is seeking a Commercial Loan Officer to develop new business, underwrite loans, and close commercial loan transactions. The role includes evaluating borrower credit, negotiating terms, and maintaining a healthy loan portfolio.

The position requires a finance/business/economics background with strong communication, financial analysis, and MS Office skills. Advancement within loan officer levels is based on education, experience and performance.

Qualifications

• PC proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Analyze applicant's financial status, credit, and evaluate collateral to determine feasibility of loan approval.
• Negotiate loan structure with prospective borrower, including fees, loan repayment terms and other credit terms.
• Underwrite credit requests considering policies, procedures, guidelines and risk; present to approval authorities.
• Assist members with inquiries regarding loan products and services.
• Promote and cross-sell other products and services.
• Monitor loan portfolio to identify risk and ensure compliance.

Functions Supervised: None

Primary Functions:Responsible for developing new business, structuring, underwriting, and closing of business and commercial loans, as well as monitoring and maintaining a loan portfolio.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Meet with business members and prospective business members to promote the credit union's commercial loan services and solicit new business.
• Interview prospective borrowers and request necessary information to process loan requests.
• Analyze applicant's financial status, credit, and evaluate collateral to determine feasibility of loan approval.
• Negotiate loan structure with prospective borrower, including fees, loan repayment terms and other credit terms.
• Underwrite credit requests taking into consideration applicable policies, procedures, guidelines and analyzed risk and present processed applications to appropriate approval authorities within the credit union as required.
• Assist members with inquiries and information requests and resolve issues relating to loan products and services offered.
• Promote and cross-sell other products and services as appropriate.
• Monitor loan portfolio to ensure proper management of risk ratings, compliance with loan covenants and early identification of potential problems. Participate in collection efforts as necessary.
• Participate in the credit union's business development activities, represent the credit union in industry and professional associations, community organizations, local business groups, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:Bachelor's degree in finance, business or economics.

Creditable Experience in Lieu of Education:Minimum five years of commercial lending experience.

Experience/Skills:Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, tax returns and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquires or issues from members, regulatory agencies, or business community participants. PC proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Sales oriented personality preferred.

Tenure: Assignment to the Commercial Loan Officer (Category 07) position or the Senior Commercial Loan Officer (Category 06) position will be determined by the candidate's education and/or experience. Advancement requires management recommendation and will be based on the candidate's performance.

Compensation

Starting base salary will be determined based on candidate experience, qualifications, education, and applicable local or state wage requirements, and will fall within the range provided below. In accordance with our Salary Administration policy, new hire base salaries generally fall between the minimum and midpoint of the listed range.

Salary Pay Range: 06

$100,331 - $172,572 annually

Salary Pay Range: 07

$90,389 - $152,718 annually
