This Jobot Job is hosted by: Tyler May
Salary: $160,000 - $200,000 per year
Our client is a boutique litigation firm with offices in New York, Washington, D.C., and Chicago, built around a singular focus: handling complex, high-stakes disputes and investigations for clients around the world. The firm represents both plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation, criminal and regulatory matters, and internal investigations, appearing before juries, judges, arbitral panels, and appellate courts up to and including the U.S. Supreme Court.
Unlike large, full-service firms, this organization has deliberately stayed lean. It has no interest in scaling into a mid-size or large practice, and instead prioritizes low conflict loads, a curated docket of interesting and consequential matters, and a team of attorneys who each carry real ownership over their cases. Independent legal-industry rankings have repeatedly praised the firm's strategic thinking, trial skill, and client service, citing its lawyers as some of the most capable litigators in the country.
Real ownership, real cases. Because the firm stays intentionally small, attorneys are not buried in a pyramid structure. Associates and counsel work directly with firm leadership and get meaningful, hands-on roles in matters that actually go to trial or argument, rather than years of siloed document review.
Compensation without the large-firm trade-offs. Pay and benefits are structured to compete with what attorneys would earn at large national firms, but within a smaller, more collegial, and more flexible environment.
A genuine culture of mentorship. The firm invests in formal advocacy training (including outside programs focused on trial skills) as well as close, in-house mentoring, reflecting a belief that great litigators are built through both instruction and hands-on experience.
A track record on diversity. More than a third of the firm's attorneys come from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the legal profession, and the firm is an active participant in outside organizations focused on diversity pipelines and legal education access.
Selectivity that signals caliber. Colleagues typically arrive after top law school credentials, prestigious clerkships, or significant government service, meaning new hires join a team of proven, high-level advocates rather than a large, variable-quality bench.
