Qualifications

• Four-year college degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum 5-10 years of Commercial Property & Casualty underwriting experience.
• Excess & Surplus Lines experience.
• Minimum 2 years of leadership, supervisory, mentoring, or coaching experience.
• Active State Property & Casualty License. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Commercial Lines Department and oversee workflow management and performance.
• Balance management duties (about 75%) with hands-on underwriting production (about 25%).
• Support profitability and growth by guiding underwriting staff and monitoring performance.
• Serve as primary resource for staff development, audits, reporting, and carrier relationship management.
• Underwrite within the existing book of business as needed.

The Commercial Lines Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, performance, workflow management, and operational oversight of the Commercial Lines Department while maintaining an active underwriting role. This \"player-coach\" position balances management responsibilities (approximately 75%) with direct underwriting production (approximately 25%).The Front-Line Manager supports agency profitability and growth by leading underwriting staff; monitoring assigned underwriter, team and department performance; ensuring adherence to workflows and carrier guidelines; and fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
