Job Summary
The Irrigation Manager supports and enhances Branch Irrigation revenue through bid preparation, sales assistance, irrigation system audits, water management, and the training and development of Irrigation Technicians. This position requires an experienced irrigation professional with advanced technical expertise in commercial irrigation systems, smart irrigation technology, central control systems, water management, troubleshooting, and system optimization. The Irrigation Manager will serve as the Branch's subject-matter expert for irrigation and water management and must be capable of supporting highly sophisticated, high-profile corporate campuses, technology clients, and other complex commercial properties. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in demanding environments where irrigation performance, water conservation, system documentation, communication, and responsiveness are held to exceptionally high standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive commercial irrigation experience, with significant hands-on experience troubleshooting, managing, programming, and optimizing large and complex irrigation systems
- Demonstrated experience supporting large commercial properties, corporate campuses, institutional properties, or other technically sophisticated landscapes strongly preferred
- Advanced hands-on experience with HydroPoint WeatherTRAK smart irrigation and central-control systems required
- Experience programming, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing WeatherTRAK controllers, flow sensors, master valves, communication devices, and associated system components
- Strong understanding of smart irrigation technology, ET-based scheduling, flow management, leak detection, system alerts, water-use reporting, and remote irrigation management
- Experience with additional commercial irrigation platforms and manufacturers such as Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, Calsense, Baseline, or similar systems highly desirable
- 3+ years of prior customer service, management, and leadership experience within the landscaping industry or related marketplace
- Proven ability to serve as a technical resource for field irrigation technicians, Project Managers, Account Managers, and clients
License or Certification
- As required by state and federal law
- Valid driver's license issued by the state where employed
- Current professional irrigation certification(s) required. Candidates should possess recognized irrigation industry credentials such as Certified Irrigation Technician (CIT), Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA), Certified Irrigation Contractor (CIC), Certified Irrigation Designer (CID), WaterSense-related certification, QWEL certification, or comparable industry-recognized credentials
- Water auditing and water-management certification strongly preferred
- HydroPoint/WeatherTRAK training or certification strongly preferred; demonstrated advanced WeatherTRAK experience required
Specialized Skills
- Strong relationship-building and internal customer service skills
- Effective oral and written communication, including the ability to teach new and complex concepts
- Expert-level ability to diagnose and repair complex commercial irrigation problems, including hydraulic, electrical, programming, communication, flow, pressure, valve, controller, sensor, and central-control issues
- Expert knowledge of two-wire systems, conventional wiring systems, decoders, master valves, flow sensors/meters, booster pumps, pressure regulation, backflow devices, weather sensors, and central-control communication systems
- Advanced knowledge of irrigation hydraulics, precipitation rates, distribution uniformity, ET-based scheduling, plant water requirements, soil conditions, and water budgeting
- Ability to analyze system performance and water-use data to identify abnormalities, leaks, excessive consumption, programming deficiencies, and opportunities for water conservation
- Ability to conduct comprehensive irrigation system audits and develop detailed corrective-action plans, recommendations, budgets, and upgrade strategies
- Ability to review irrigation plans, as-built drawings, controller maps, flow data, and technical specifications
- Ability to troubleshoot irrigation systems systematically and determine root cause rather than relying solely on component replacement
- Ability to communicate highly technical irrigation issues clearly to clients, facility teams, landscape managers, executives, and field personnel
- Must be capable of confidently representing Jensen as the irrigation subject-matter expert during client meetings, technical discussions, system audits, and property walkthroughs
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and perform well under tight deadlines

Essential Duties
- Partner with Project Managers and Business Development Managers to accurately prepare bids for complex or long-term irrigation value added services
- Conduct walkthroughs with client and other company representatives as appropriate
- Visit jobs in progress to relate actual estimate; review questions or problems that may arise
- Conduct post-completion irrigation quality audits
- Develop, implement, and maintain Irrigation Tech training program
- Ensure safety on every project by consistently monitoring job site activities for potential safety hazards
- Develop water conservation programs and perform water audits
- Constantly promote and encourage adherence to company policies and best practices
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but may oversee performance and development of Branch Irrigation Techs as necessary, perform hands‑on irrigation work with crews to meet work and scheduling demands
