McMillan James Equipment Company seeks a skilled Commercial HVAC Technician to join our Austin team. You will install, maintain, and repair complex HVAC systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure safety and code compliance.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience, EPA Universal certification, and strong communication skills. You’ll work with BAS, read blueprints, and document service activities using our ERP system, with opportunities for growth and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• HVAC certification preferred.
• EPA Universal certification required.
• 5+ years in commercial HVAC installation, maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of electrical and refrigeration systems.
• BAS experience is a plus.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces or extreme weather conditions.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and handheld devices.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems including RTUs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and VRF systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC issues and perform repairs.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance to maximize system performance.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Ensure compliance with HVAC codes and safety standards.
• Collaborate with building engineers, facility managers, and contractors.
• Document all work using company ERP system.
• Respond to emergency (weekends/afterhours) service requests.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial HVAC Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of commercial heating and cooling systems, troubleshooting experience, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing complex HVAC systems while ensuring compliance with all industry regulations and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including RTUs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and VRF systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues and perform necessary repairs efficiently.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to maximize system performance and longevity.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal HVAC codes and safety standards.
• Collaborate with building engineers, facility managers, and contractors on HVAC system design and performance.
• Document all work performed, including service reports and parts used using company ERP system.
• Respond to emergency (weekends/afterhours) HVAC service requests as needed.
• Stay up to date with advancements in HVAC technology and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair.
• EPA Universal certification required.
• Knowledge of electrical and refrigeration systems, including troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) is a plus.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces or extreme weather conditions.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e., Smartphone, iPad).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
