Independent Lighting & Electrical, a Virginia Beach-based contractor with over 30 years in the industry, is seeking experienced electricians to join our growing team. We offer a competitive salary, a standard M-F schedule (7:30–4:00), and a supportive work environment for full-time commercial lighting projects.

Responsibilities include ground-up buildouts, installation, retrofit, and troubleshooting of lighting systems, plus leading a crew when needed.

Qualifications

Journeyman level experience as an electrician.
Experience in commercial electrical systems and lighting.
Ability to read electrical drawings and blueprints.
Thorough knowledge of lock out-tag out safety procedures, regulations, and NEC codes.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Good physical condition and ability to work full shifts.
Valid driver's license with a good record.
Ability to work on ladders, aerial lifts, bucket trucks, and lift 50 lbs.
Journeyman or Master license preferred.

Responsibilities

Execute plans of electrical wiring for lighting and other electrical systems.
Install distribution components (e.g. switches, resistors, circuit-breakers, panels etc.).
Proficiently install electrical circuits and network cables, and ensure compatibility of components.
Install and support conduits, pull wire, terminate equipment and devices.
Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and the cause, replace damaged parts.
Supervise or lead a crew when necessary.
