Position: Engineer II

Location: Houston, Texas

HX5 is seeking a Commercial Crew Program Project Engineer to join the NASA Johnson Space Center team for the development of flight hardware.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Maintain a responsive working relationship with the Commercial Crew provider and vendors.
  2. Provide status updates, schedules, and work information to meet project milestones.
  3. Support project management in technical, schedule, cost, and risk management.
  4. Lead/support hardware team meetings, verification activities, and travel for training events.
  5. Support weekly status updates and program forums on hardware certification and risks.
  6. Coordinate with external organizations like Flight Operations, Crew Office, and Engineering Directorate.
  7. Keep stakeholders informed of project development and operational status.
  8. Participate in program milestones such as verification, qualification, launch prep, and support operations.
  9. Travel as needed for meetings, testing, investigations, and training.
  10. Ensure project requirements are met within a team environment.
  11. Perform additional duties as required.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited school with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in requirements development, hardware design, verification, and testing.
  • Knowledge of space hardware concepts, engineering drawings, and software tools.
  • Ability to prepare documents and present at meetings.
  • Familiarity with NASA flight processes and Johnson Space Center procedures.
Preferences
  • Advanced degrees and extensive engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience in hardware design, testing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on testing and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
Work Details
  • Full-time, Monday-Friday, in-office.
  • May involve some outside work and physical activity.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
  • Ability to pass a U.S. government background check.
