Job description

Joining Collibra’s Legal team

Collibra is seeking a Commercial Counsel to join our high-impact Legal team. You will be a key individual responsible for drafting, negotiating, and closing enterprise SaaS, software, and technology-related agreements that power Collibra's growth. This role provides critical legal and commercial support to our Sales and Procurement organizations, ensuring Collibra continues to close deals quickly while staying protected on risk, compliance, and contractual terms. You will act as a trusted legal partner to the business, working closely with Sales, Finance, Security, and Procurement to move deals forward without cutting corners on legal protection.

This is a hybrid role based in our Brussels office. Our hybrid model means you’ll work from the office at least two days each week. This setup helps us stay connected, work more closely together, and keep making progress as a team.

Commercial Counsels at Collibra are responsible for
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating enterprise SaaS, software, and technology agreements including partnership, reseller, supply, and licensing agreements to support Collibra's commercial relationships.
  • Managing the commercial contracting process to keep deals moving efficiently while protecting Collibra's legal interests.
  • Partnering with Sales, Sales Operations, Finance, Security, and Procurement teams to drive transactions to successful completion.
  • Advising on the structure of customer arrangements to support sound legal and business decisions.
  • Monitoring regulatory and legal developments, and advising on related legal matters arising from Collibra's operations, to help the company stay ahead of compliance requirements.
You have
  • 3+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably as in-house commercial contracts counsel in the software industry.
  • A law degree and qualification to practice in an EU or EEA jurisdiction, the UK, or the US (or equivalent experience). Belgian bar admission is not required.
  • Fluency in English and French, with the ability to draft and negotiate in both languages.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging AI tools (e.g., Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, Harvey) to solve real-world business challenges, drive measurable outcomes, and streamline workflows.
  • Working knowledge of GDPR and data protection concepts as they apply to SaaS contracting
  • Experience negotiating with large enterprise or public sector customers.
You are
  • Someone who applies strong drafting and negotiation skills, grounded in excellent business judgment and critical thinking.
  • Someone who attends to detail, catching nuances in complex commercial agreements
  • Someone who communicates with a service-oriented approach, building trusted relationships with legal and non-legal colleagues.
  • Someone who prioritizes and manages multiple tasks and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Someone who takes initiative, identifying and acting on opportunities without waiting for direction.
Measures of success
  • Within your first month, you will get familiar with Collibra's product, contracting processes, and risk appetite.
  • Within your third month, you will independently negotiate contracts with enterprise customers and partners.
  • Within your sixth month, you will contribute to process improvements and support broader legal projects.
