Job summary

ABS Insulating, a member of the IBP family, is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our North Carolina office. You will review plans, perform detailed quantity take-offs, and generate accurate cost estimates and bid packages for commercial projects.

You will collaborate with project teams, analyze quotes, support procurement, and provide value engineering when appropriate to ensure competitive, achievable bids.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as an estimator in commercial construction.
• Strong understanding of construction materials, building systems, and trade sequencing.
• Proficiency in reading construction documents and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret architectural and engineering plans, specifications, and project scopes to understand project requirements.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment based on commercial project documentation.
• Utilize estimating software and Excel to generate accurate cost estimates and bid proposals.
• Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes and compare them against project specifications and budgets.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify project details and resolve inconsistencies.
• Develop cost breakdowns and value engineering recommendations when appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market pricing, labor rates, and construction industry trends.
• Prepare and present detailed estimates and bid packages to clients and internal teams.
• Assist with procurement by providing quantity and cost data to the purchasing department.
• Support project kickoff meetings and adjust estimates as needed based on design changes or field conditions.
