Job summary

An Arlington Heights, IL-based general contractor seeks a Construction Estimator to manage commercial estimating, takeoffs, bid prep, and subcontractor pricing for projects in the Chicago area. The role collaborates with project management and operations, with occasional travel to sites.

The candidate should have 2+ years in construction estimating for commercial projects, strong Excel skills, and the ability to work in the Arlington Heights office with some remote work.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction estimating experience
• Experience with design-build, CM, and hard bid projects
• Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and specs
• Proficiency with Excel and cost estimating methods
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints, drawings, plans, specs and scope of work
• Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, equipment and material costs
• Prepare time, cost, labor, material and equipment estimates
• Prepare bids for design-build, CM and hard bid projects
• Coordinate subcontractor bids, invitations, site visits, pricing and presentations
• Review subcontractor bids for scope and pricing alignment
• Work with project teams through preconstruction and estimating
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits
• Prepare project documentation and schedules
• Travel to project sites to collect measurements and information
