You will help develop the project schedule, supervise field staff and subcontractors, and ensure safety, quality, and budget alignment throughout a 100+ week build. You will coordinate with project management, provide daily reports, manage punch lists, and help plan temporary facilities and long-lead items, with opportunities for growth within

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; a four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred.
• 2–5 years of commercial or industrial construction experience.
• Tenant renovations, service work, and fast-paced project experience are pluses.

Responsibilities

• Work with the project manager to formulate the project schedule and ensure proper methods and sequencing.
• Maintain HITT quality standards for all aspects of the project.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors and develop community connections to enhance opportunities; ensure subcontractors are treated fairly.
• Ensure accurate daily documentation of work orders and identify problems early to provide solutions; organize the site team and arrange temporary facilities/utilities; identify long-lead items for expedited delivery.

This role sits within HITT's Industrial group, which delivers new construction, renovations, expansions, and fit-outs across distribution centers, warehouses, manufacturing, aviation, automotive, mission critical, advanced manufacturing, central utility plants, and other complex industrial facilities nationwide. This position supports a newly awarded industrial campus in Hurt, VA. The Assistant Superintendent understands and administers the HITT safety program to include all subcontractors, ensures that all accidents/incidents are promptly reported and investigated, and assists in safety inspection by outside agencies. The Assistant Superintendent assists in planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the building aspects of each project in order to meet budget, quality, time, and safety objectives.**Project Overview*** Newly secured project in southern Virginia supporting a growing industrial market in the region* Large-scale, long-duration build (100+ weeks) with an established site team structure, including multiple superintendents, assistant superintendents, project managers, and APMs* Site setup and mobilization underway now, with groundbreaking next month* Backed by HITT's broader Industrial platform, which collaborates with project stakeholders to develop focused action plans that bring complex projects online as fast and safely as possible* Growth opportunity within HITT's Industrial group, which also covers advanced manufacturing, mission critical, energy, power generation, and heavy civil work* Out-of-town assignment with per diem support for the duration of the project**Responsibilities*** Work with the project manager in formulating the project schedule, ensure that the proper methods and sequence of installation are followed, and make and follow through with schedule commitments* Maintain HITT quality standards for all aspects of the project* Maintain good working relationships with all subcontractors on the project, develop relationships within the community that enhance business opportunities, and ensure subcontractors are treated fairly* Ensure complete, accurate daily documentation of work orders/tickets, understand subcontractor scope of work to avoid unnecessary change orders, and identify problems early and act immediately to provide solutions* Develop and organize the site team, arrange for temporary facilities/utilities for the site, and identify long lead items that need to be expedited**Qualifications*** High school diploma required; four-year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred* 2–5 years' experience in commercial or industrial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractor* Tenant renovations, service work, work in occupied spaces, weekend work, fast paced project experience all a plus* Project lead experience a plus* Ability to master sector/project-specific software systems including but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), ProCore, Primavera P6, Adobe, BlueBeam* OSHA 30 Certification preferred* Ability to walk and/or stand for long periods of time and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs* Willingness to work out of town for the duration of the assignment, with per diem provided* Must demonstrate a strong ability to: + Communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally, with a strong focus on audience appropriate business writing and verbal skills + Demonstrate a positive attitude and passion for construction and our industry + Gather data, interpret it into meaningful information, and relay that information through clear, concise communication strategies; ability to see how pieces and processes fit into and affect the bigger picture/business model + Organize and manage tasks and priorities + Demonstrate integrity consistently with The HITT Way and HITT's core values + Seek continuous improvement of knowledge and abilities, internal focus on self-improvement + Adapt and exercise flexibility with the ever-changing world of technology, design, means and methods + Collaborate with people of various backgrounds and styles + Create and maintain relationships with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and vendors + Exhibit respectfulness by being punctual, engaged/focused, and respectful of others In accordance with Virginia Senate Bill 215 (SB 215), the base salary range for this position is: $95,200.00 - $145,200.00Compensation in other cities and states may vary.
