Job summary

EGC Construction, an operating unit of Messer Construction Co., is seeking a Carpenter in Newport, KY. The candidate will work on commercial construction and remodeling projects, reading blueprints and performing layout, and will install doors, windows, and concrete footings as part of a team.

Ideal applicants have a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of three years’ experience, OSHA 10 preferred, and the ability to travel and work in varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of commercial construction and remodeling practices.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience.
• Candidates must have transportation.

• Able to work in varied seasonal and weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Installation of doors; drill and set door hardware.
• Installation of windows.
• Layout for stairs and common rafters.
• Read blueprints, use math skills and perform layout.
• Form and place concrete footings, piers, walls and columns.
• Pump, place and finish techniques.
• Placement of concrete, slab on grade and elevated decks.
• Crane signals and rigging.
• Communicate instructions clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Organize, sequence and perform tasks within schedule.
• Hanging and finishing drywall.
