Qualifications

  • Three years in building maintenance/repair.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • HVAC or EPA Universal Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain health, safety, sanitation and fire systems per licensing standards.
  • Perform regular facility inspections with directors.
  • Note deficiencies and propose corrective actions.
  • Maintain and upgrade facilities.
  • Ensure facilities promote client dignity and privacy.
  • Ensure staff have adequate space, supplies and equipment.
  • Oversee maintenance of all NCTR vehicles.
  • Ensure vehicles have current inspections, registrations and insurance.
  • Report vehicle damage to Program Director.
  • Investigate damage and write incident reports as needed.
  • Assist with transporting clients when needed.
  • Adhere to policies, CARF standards, and maintain licensure (CES, CPR, First Aid, Medication Management).

SUMMARY:

National Capital Treatment & Recovery, formerly Phoenix House, a nonprofit substance use treatment facility in Arlington, VA is looking for a full-time Facilities Technician to be responsible for providing a safe, secure and appropriate facility at each program. This is a full-time, M-F, 8am-4pm position with full benefits. Commercial and HVAC experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for maintaining health, safety, sanitation and fire systems to standards of compliance for state and local licensing bodies
  • Perform regular and routine inspections of facility with facility and program directors
  • Note areas of deficiency and provide corrective action plan
  • Maintain and upgrades facilities
  • Ensure that the physical conditions in each facility, at all times promote the respect, dignity and privacy of the client
  • Ensure that adequate and appropriate space available and assigned to staff, in each facility, to perform and the duties as described in their individual job descriptions and that appropriate supplies and equipment are provided
  • Oversee regular maintenance of all NCTR vehicles
  • Assure that all vehicles have current inspections, county stickers, registrations and insurance
  • Report to Program Director when vehicles have been damaged due to accident or vandalism
  • Investigate circumstances of damage and write an Incident Report as needed
  • Assist as able to transport clients
  • Maintain ethical standards and continued professional growth, including
    a. Abide by Program and NCTR policy and procedures. Ensure all CARF standards are instituted and maintained. Promote, in public and private contacts, the quality standards and ethical practices of NCTR staff. Continue professional growth by attending workshops, trainings and NCTR staff in-service trainings to increase skill and knowledge and to set appropriate example for staff. Maintain current licensure/certification including CES, CPR, First Aid, and Medication Management. Maintain professional boundaries with staff and client. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
