It starts with our culture ...

Common sense has never been common.

If it were, the world would be a different place. Things would run smoothly and on time. People would do what they say and say what they do. Everything would be fair, without all the small talk. And banks would only sell you what you need. When a banker looked at a client, they wouldn’t just see a number, they’d see a dad or a mom or a graduate or a business owner. Our Bankers understand the complexities of people’s lives and offer simple solutions.

That's the basics of Relationships. Fairness. Simplicity®. When you choose our Company, you have an opportunity to make an impact beyond the walls of our buildings.

We have a long-standing commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Through our banking relationships, investing, grants, and volunteerism, NBH Bank promotes the growth, revitalization and sustainability of the communities we serve. We believe that these are important elements in building and sustaining a successful organization and a positive, results-driven culture. We strive for all of our associates to feel welcome and empowered at work.

As a Commercial Lending Assistant, you will provide administrative and operational support for an assigned team of Commercial Lenders. The position is responsible for maintaining a high level of confidentiality and superior customer service; gathering financial and loan data requirements, preparing electronic loan file documentation for consumer and commercial loans, conducting research, and coordinating services with internal business units and third-party providers. Prepare memos, correspondence and other documents as necessary.

As a Commercial Lending Assistant, you will have an opportunity to assist in the management of banker workflow and pipeline management, including early-stage loan processing duties: communicating with borrower to obtain required personal and financial items, inputting borrower and loan details into various platforms, ordering third party services and verifications, and tracking loan progress to ensure deadlines are met.

Greet customers in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner, including responding to customer inquiries, requests and complaints in person, by telephone and email correspondence with professionalism and accuracy. Navigate bank systems to provide customers with account specific details and assist in processing financial transfers, transactions, loan payments, etc. Facilitate management and tracking of Commercial and Residential Construction projects to insure compliance and timely availability of funds. Become familiar with commercial and consumer regulatory requirements to ensure compliance. Review loan documents for accuracy. Review loan files to ensure the completeness of the file and that all collateral has been secured properly.

Perform special projects as requested. Complete unplanned tasks that often require very quick turnaround with accurate delivery and results. Collaborate successfully with other staff to complete high priority assignments and coordinate work efforts. Navigate multiple computer systems, applications, and utilize search tools to find information. Adherence to all bank policies and procedures, federal and state employment laws and regulations.

Minimum Requirements: This position requires the following educational and/or job experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ years of financial services experience.
  • 2+ years of customer service or sales experience.
  • Experience working successfully and independently in a dynamic and challenging work environment that requires strong multi-tasking abilities to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of loan documentation.
  • Extreme level of confidentiality.
  • Customer/Client Focus.
  • High level of honesty and integrity.

Desired Skills: Ideal candidates for this position should possess some or all of the following skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • Superior verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Exercise good judgement.
  • Ability to resolve issues and conflicts.
  • Work independently/team member.
  • Time management.
  • Personal effectiveness & flexibility.
  • Stress management/composure.
  • Articulate and thorough.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with effective follow-up.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skills.

Our decisions are made efficiently, fairly, and locally. Our success is directly tied to the communities we serve.
