Job summary

A not-for-profit electric company in Indiana is seeking a Combustion Turbine Operator/Technician to maintain and operate combustion turbines and electric generators. Job description

The Indiana Municipal Power Agency is a not-for-profit, wholesale electric generation and transmission company located in Carmel, Indiana. At IMPA, we support 61 communities in Indiana and Ohio through providing low-cost, reliable, and environmentally responsible electricity, as well as a variety of other services to help in the overall success of each town or city.

As a member of the generation team, the Combustion Turbine Operator/Technician will maintain and operate our combustion turbines and electric generators in Anderson and Richmond, Indiana, to achieve the highest levels of reliability and performance. This is a full-time position.

What You’ll Bring to the Table
  • A workplace safety-oriented mindset
  • An Associate degree in engineering, electronics, or a related field of study with 1-5 years’ experience.
  • Other equivalent combinations of education and technical experience may also be considered.
  • Knowledge of control systems, electrical systems and communication equipment.
  • An understanding of electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to use hand tools, wrenches and other equipment.
  • Familiarity with acceptable safety practices and OSHA requirements.
  • A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Operate and maintain our combustion turbines and plant systems at Anderson and Richmond.
  • Operate environmental and other monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with operating permit limits, standard IMPA procedures and NERC and RFC reliability standards.
  • Operate high voltage switchyard circuit breakers
  • Monitor transformer instrumentation
  • Other duties as necessary, including procurement of parts and supplies, preventive maintenance activities and maintaining environmental monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with our safety standards and procedures including the safety tagging and lockout of electrical and mechanical systems.
