Job summary

Austin Industrial in the United States is seeking a Journeyman Welder (Combo Welder) to join our metal fabrication teams. This full-time role requires 3–5 years of Journeyman experience and skill with GTAW, TIG, FCAW and SMAW on pipe and structural components.

The position is a 40-hour-per-week, on-site opportunity with no per diem or relocation funding. We offer competitive benefits and an ESOP-driven, employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Journeyman level welding experience.
• Must weld 2" sch 10 GTAW and 2" heavy wall carbon steel GTAW; FCAW and TIG on carbon steel, stainless and aluminum.
• Ability to perform full penetration welds with SMAW and flux core; operate welding equipment safely.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Join metal parts (pipe/plates) per layout, blueprints, or work orders.
• Weld structure and pipe FCAW and TIG; start and complete x-ray welds using GTAW and SMAW.
• Unite pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas; set valves; follow safety regulations.
• Maintain equipment and uphold safety standards; wear PPE as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Welder-Combo

The Combo Welder must be able to join metal parts, such as pipe or metal plates as specified by layout, blueprints, work orders, welding procedures or oral instructions through the application of heat or electric arc-welding equipment. Other duties may be assigned.

This is a full-time job opportunity working 40 hours a week (5/8's). There is no per diem and no relocation funding.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

• Must be a Journeyman Industrial Combo-Welder with 3-5 years of experience.
• Must be able to weld 2" sch 10 GTAW and 2" heavy wall carbon steel GTAW. Also, weld structure and pipe FCAW and TIG (carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum). You will be weld tested.
• Weld structure and pipe FCAW and TIG (carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum).
• Unites pipes from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and turns valves to release mixture.
• Perform full penetration welds with SMAW and flux core welding applications.
• Start and complete x-ray welds using the GTAW and SMAW weld processes.
• Checks the weakness of work pieces and measures work pieces with straightedge or template to ensure the piece meets specifications.
• Maintain and operate welding equipment properly, following all safety regulations.
• Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required For This Position

Education – no minimum education requirements.

Experience – 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.

Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check, as condition of employment.
