Job summary

ChampionX in Odessa, TX seeks a Combo Capillary/ESP Spooling Technician to support artificial lift deployments at customer sites. You will drive a capillary truck, spool capillary and ESP cable onto reels, perform inspections and repairs, and ensure compliance with safety policies.

This role requires three years in oil and gas, experience splicing cables, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to troubleshoot customer issues.

Qualifications

• Three years of relevant oil and gas experience.
• One year of splicing electrical, capillary, TEC cables.
• Must read, write and speak English fluently.
• Strong mechanical, math and analytical skills.
• Ability to follow safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Transport capillary trailer to client sites and spool capillary onto reels.
• Inspect and repair capillary at customer locations.
• Install downhole gauge and wireless communications.
• Band or clamp capillary and TEC cable with a Forum tool.
• Maintain equipment and complete DOT paperwork.
• Support other ChampionX product lines when needed.
• Build strong customer relationships through professional communication.
• Follow safety policies and procedures.

This is your opportunity to join a global technology company, driving energy innovation for a balanced planet.**What’s In It For You:*** You will join a growing company offering competitive pay and benefits* Access to best-in-class resources, tools, and technology* Opportunity for a long term, advanced career path* A culture that values safety first, including training and personal protection**What You Will Do:*** Under general supervision, will drive capillary truck and pull combo capillary trailer to customer rig site.* Perform customer support activities for artificial lift, including ESP spooling and capillary spooling onto a reel as the tubing is extracted from the well hole.* Inspects and repairs capillary at customer locations.* Uses pneumatic and manual hand tools, bands cable/capillary as it is being installed into the well hole.* Demonstrated ability to install downhole gauge and wireless commutations.* Demonstrated ability to band or clamp capillary and TEC cable with a Forum banding tool.* Demonstrates the flexibility and ability to assist with other ChampionX product lines.* Develops strong relationships with key customers through frequent and professional communication.* Knows and enforces compliance with all safety policies and procedures.* Completes DOT paperwork as required to include documentation and maintenance of DOT driving log.* Maintains truck and trailer per Company standards.* Drives and contributes to the department continuous improvement culture.* Maintains confidentiality of all matters.* Other duties as required**Pre-Employment Requirements:*** Motor vehicle record check* Drug and alcohol test* Criminal background check* Education and certification check**Minimum Qualifications:*** Must be age 21 or older to drive company vehicle.* Valid driver's license in state of residence required.* Three years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.* One year experience splicing electrical cable, capillary cable, TEC cable and testing CT line.* Strong mechanical skills.* Good oral and written communication skills.* Good math skills.* Good analytical and critical thinking skills.* Strong organizational and time management skills.* Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.* Able to troubleshoot customer issues.* Ensures accountability.* Strong safety focus.* Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.* Immigration sponsorship not offered for this role.**Physical Demands:*** Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.* The employee is regularly required to stand for the entire work day* The employee regularly lifts and carries 50 lbs and occasionally lifts and carries up to 100 lbs with assistance* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus* The employee is regularly required to talk or hear* The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to pick feel and/or inspect material.
