The Health Care Specialist / Combat Medic (MOS 68W) serves as the primary health care representative for the U.S. Army in clinical and tactical environments, providing emergency medical treatment and coordinating patient care.

In garrison or field settings, you assess medical histories, monitor patients, and support physicians, nurses, and medics to ensure readiness and effective treatment. As a Healthcare Specialist, you contribute to preventive care, health protection, and evacuation planning,

Responsibilities

• Diagnose common illnesses and conditions.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Promote preventive care through routine check-ups and health screenings.
• Scheduling and conducting follow-up appointments to track patient progress.
• Educate patients on conditions, medications, and lifestyle changes; instruct soldiers on Combat Life Savers/First Responder procedures.
• Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and manage medical readiness and equipment.
