Job description

Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC / MEP Consulting
Exciting Projects. Exceptional Culture. Unlimited Growth Potential.

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking for more than just another design role? This is an opportunity to join a highly respected, growing engineering firm that offers the best of both worlds: the resources and exposure to large-scale, high-profile projects, combined with a fantastic company culture where employees are valued, supported, and encouraged to grow.

This is not a position where you'll spend your entire day sitting behind a desk. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects from concept through construction, work directly with clients, collaborate with contractors and project teams, and see your designs come to life in the field.

The firm offers a collaborative, team-oriented environment, strong leadership support, and virtually limitless opportunities for professional and career advancement. Whether your goal is to become a technical expert, lead major projects, develop client relationships, or move into a leadership role, there is a path to get there.

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in HVAC and mechanical systems design for commercial and industrial facilities.

In this role, you'll manage multiple projects from initial design and planning through construction and completion. You'll serve as a key point of contact for clients, coordinate with contractors and internal engineering teams, and play an active role in delivering successful projects.

This position offers a great balance of technical design, project management, client interaction, and hands-on involvement at construction sites.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead exciting, large-scale projects: Manage mechanical engineering projects from initial concept and design through construction and completion.
  • Get out from behind the desk: Visit project sites regularly, participate in construction meetings, collaborate with contractors, and see projects come to life.
  • Build meaningful client relationships: Work directly with owners, clients, architects, contractors, and other engineering professionals.
  • Take ownership: Oversee project schedules, budgets, design quality, technical deliverables, and overall project success.
  • Design innovative mechanical systems: Develop HVAC, piping, ductwork, chilled water, and other mechanical systems for commercial and industrial applications.
  • Collaborate and lead: Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Contribute to business growth: Participate in client development, prepare proposals and estimates, and help identify new project opportunities.
  • Make an impact: Bring your ideas, technical expertise, and leadership skills to a firm that encourages initiative and rewards contributions.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
  • Approximately 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably within the consulting engineering, MEP, HVAC, or mechanical construction industries.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; current NCEES record a plus.
  • Strong experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and/or industrial facilities.
  • Experience with chillers, rooftop units, piping, ductwork, and related mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards, including ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, ASME, and related building codes.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office, and project management software.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, coordinating with contractors, and interacting directly with clients.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel locally and visit construction sites as project needs require.
Technical Experience

Ideal candidates will have experience in several of the following areas:

  • HVAC design, heat gain/loss calculations, and equipment selection
  • Chilled water, hot water, glycol, and steam systems
  • Refrigeration and air distribution systems
  • Building automation and temperature control systems
  • Commercial and industrial piping and ductwork design
  • Plumbing and related building mechanical systems
  • Construction documents, specifications, and bid packages
  • Construction administration, cost estimating, and project scheduling
  • Coordination with owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
Fantastic Company Culture

Join a firm that genuinely values its people. You'll be part of a supportive, collaborative team where leadership is accessible, employees have a voice, and professional relationships matter.

REAL Exposure to Large-Scale Projects

Work on substantial, technically challenging commercial and industrial projects. You'll have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions, interact with clients, and see firsthand how your work impacts the finished product.

A Role That Goes Beyond Design

If you enjoy being involved in the bigger picture, this is an ideal opportunity. You'll be engaged throughout the project lifecycle, from engineering and design to client meetings, construction coordination, and on-site problem-solving.

Limitless Career Growth

The firm is committed to growth and offers tremendous opportunities for engineers who want to advance. Whether you're interested in technical leadership, project management, client development, or taking on greater organizational responsibilities, your career won't be limited by a rigid structure.

Autonomy, Visibility, and Impact

This is an opportunity to take ownership of your work, build strong relationships with clients and senior leadership, and play a meaningful role in the continued success of a growing organization.
