St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Saint Augustine, FL is seeking a full‑time Columbarium and Groundskeeper to maintain the columbarium, assist with cremains and plaques, and care for church grounds daily.

The role covers multiple facilities and requires careful attention to safety and cleanliness. The position offers hourly compensation of $20 and a 30‑hour work week, with responsibilities spanning gate access, garden care, cleaning, and minor maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Six months or more of related experience.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License with ability to drive a truck.
• Adhere to all Diocesan health and safety policies by maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all areas of maintenance and on all repair projects.
• Receive adequate training where necessary to appropriately operate equipment.
• Maintain a respectful and quiet atmosphere in the church during the hours of liturgical celebrations.
• The physical demands of work require routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

Responsibilities

• Unlock the columbarium gates Monday through Friday.
• Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks, including cleaning niches monthly, washing floors weekly, blowing leaves daily, and decorating for Christmas and Easter.
• Assist in placing cremains and plaques on all four columbaria.
• Pressure wash the overhead columbarium walkways monthly.
• Lubricate the locks and hinges monthly.
• Maintain the gardens near all four columbaria.
• Weed the flower beds and trim shrubbery around all five church buildings.
• Gather branches and trim bushes and trees on the church property.
• Spray weed killer in gardens, along sidewalks, and parking lots.
• Daily clean debris from building entrances, including using a blower to clean sidewalks.
