Job summary

CoPIRG is seeking a Zero Waste Advocate to champion ideas that reduce waste in Colorado, from single-use plastics to repair programs. You will work with the Executive Director to develop policy, build coalitions, organize events, recruit volunteers, and promote waste-reduction initiatives statewide.

The Public Interest Network supports CoPIRG and offers a comprehensive benefits package. The role is full-time and based in Denver, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Campaign advocate or grassroots organizer with at least 2 years of advocacy or organizing experience.
• Effective communicator with excellent writing and public speaking skills.
• Creative and strategic thinker who can solve complex problems and seize opportunities.
• Well-organized and able to manage multiple legislative and administrative proposals.

Responsibilities

• Help shape program priorities: policy development, research and messaging for Colorado.
• Build powerful coalitions across the political spectrum to demonstrate support.
• Organize webinars, community events and public meetings to promote waste reduction.
• Recruit and work with volunteers; manage interns to maximize impact.
• Earn traditional media and social media attention; write opinion pieces.
• Advocate to decision-makers through lobbying, hearings, and written materials.
• Fundraise: write grant proposals and build relationships with foundations.
• Grow our team by recruiting strong candidates and overseeing staff.
