Job summary

Workstream is hiring a Collision Technician in Downey, California, responsible for repairing vehicle body parts in accordance with factory specifications. The ideal candidate should have at least three years of collision technician experience alongside Toyota and I-Car certifications.

Job description

This position is 100% on‑site.

Summary

The Collision Technician is responsible for repairing damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards.

Essential Duties
  • Examine damaged vehicles and diagnose repair procedures.
  • Disassemble vehicles with hand and power tools.
  • Repair damaged vehicles with hand tools, power tools and hammer.
  • Drive vehicles.
  • Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window‑and‑seat‑operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fenders.
  • Fill depressions with body filler.
  • Remove damaged fenders and panels.
  • Bolt or weld replacement parts in position, using wrenches or welding equipment.
  • Repair/replace frames & section unibody.
  • File, grind and sand repaired surfaces.
  • Metal finish & prep repaired surface.
  • Aim headlights, replace damaged suspension parts & assemblies and bleed hydraulic brake system.
  • Diagnose & replace electrical systems & modules.
  • Repair or replace SRS systems, suspension, mechanical parts.

Minimum hourly pay rate of $16.90, which can increase based on productivity without any upper limit.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual should possess:

  • At least 3 years of collision technician experience, plus completion of the following requirements:
  • Toyota and I‑Car certified.
  • Use of basic hand tools.
  • Ability to disassemble and reassemble vehicles.
  • Ability to identify non-structural and structural damage.
  • Use of air tools including grinders, panel cutters, DA sanders and block sanders.
  • Vehicle set‑up and measuring.
  • Identify plastic type and repair process.
  • Basic straightening and repair of sheet metal.
  • Identify Hybrid and EV, and disconnect high voltage systems.
  • Ability to identify structural frame conditions and repair.
  • Ability to perform steel sectioning.
  • Understanding vehicle safety systems and Supplemental restraint systems.
  • Basic MAG and MIG welding; MIG brazing.
  • Utilize urethane welding techniques.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record.

Physical Demands

Individual will:

  • Stand for long periods at a time.
  • Frequently bend, stretch, twist, or reach with their body, arms, and/or legs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • It is estimated that handling vehicle parts will constitute approximately 30‑40% of the physical demands, which includes lifting 0‑50 pounds and occasional lifting of 50 pounds or more.
  • Exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects and use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs.
