Job summary

DK Security, Inc. in South Haven, MI is hiring part-time Uniformed Security Officers. The role emphasizes protecting site assets and providing excellent customer service, with shifts Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 1700-2200. Compensation is $18.50/hour.

The job requires at least a high school diploma or GED, 18+ (21+ for armed work with CPL/LEOSA), and the ability to pass a drug screen. CPR/First Aid/AED certification is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Able to pass a drug screen at hire and randomly thereafter (including marijuana).
• Must adhere to Uniform and Appearance policy and maintain a friendly, professional image.
• Willing to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified and provide emergency care if needed.

Responsibilities

• Guard posts at entry/exit points of client buildings and grounds.
• Conduct foot and/or vehicle patrols to maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
• Check employee, vendor, and visitor identifications.
• Identify suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
• Document daily activities and report incidents.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Skills / Requirements

Uniformed Security Officers are responsible for protecting the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, students and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, fires and natural disasters, as well as providing outstanding customer service to our customers, clients, and visitors.

Schedule

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 1700-2200 (Varies per Semester)

COMPENSATION: Rate of Pay

$18.50/hour.

Job Duties

Must provide exceptional customer service.

• Guard posts at the entry / exit points of the client buildings and grounds.
• Conduct foot and/or vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
• Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications.
• Look for suspicious people, packages, and activities.
• Must follow site specific post guidelines.
• Document daily activities and report all incidents.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.1067
• 17(2). (Must also be at least 21 years old and be a Michigan CPL or LEOSA cardholder to perform armed security work).
• Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.1060
• 10(1)(c).
• Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL 338.1060
• 10(1)(c).
• Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
• Must adhere to our company’s Uniform and Appearance policy and present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
• Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner. This includes the ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be willing to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified and be capable of administering this care in emergency situations.
• Must be able to move quickly, including running short distances, to respond in emergency situations.
• Must be able to sit, stand, and walk long distances, including navigating stairs, for the duration of the shift (8-12 hours).
• Must be able to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons.
• Must be able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. (70 lbs. if working as an armed security officer)
• Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision.

Must be employed at least 1 year while maintaining an average of 20+ hours per week at the time of the eligibility check to become eligible for any benefits: Benefits are offered once every November to those eligible.
