Summary:

The Summer College Internship Program is a 10-week paid internship experience that provides undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to attend development workshops, network, and be part of our company. Our college interns work on meaningful projects, are mentored under their respective managers, and continue to develop throughout the entire summer. Through the internship program, our interns can attend development workshops that are focused on key business concepts. Interns may work within the skills-based tracks of Business Administration, Information Technology, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other non-technical and/or technical based degree programs.

• This is a paid 10-week summer internship from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August (up to 40 hours per week).
• Interns may reside in either a technical or non-technical area.
• Development workshops are provided to help with the transition from school to the corporate environment.
• Housing is not provided as part of our program.

Essential Accountabilities:

• Specific duties will vary by assignment; specific divisional callouts are listed below.
• Innovation & AI interns work in cross-functional teams to identify, design, and develop AI-driven solutions that address real business challenges aligned with the organization's strategic priorities. Throughout the summer, they engage directly with business stakeholders, research emerging technologies, build proofs of concept, and iteratively refine solutions using user feedback. Interns gain hands‑on experience with artificial intelligence, software development, and product design while following a structured innovation process that culminates in presenting their solutions to senior leaders. Successful projects may advance into pilot or production initiatives, giving interns the opportunity to contribute to innovations with lasting organizational impact.
• Works with a mentor and supports key strategic projects.
• Completes work assignments based on business needs, departmental priorities, and individual qualifications.
• Performs a mix of technical and/or non-technical tasks that will cover a broad range of business-related projects.
• Creates and delivers presentations at completion of internship.

• Maintain confidentiality and protection of member privacy in accordance with the company policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Desired Majors/Degree Programs Include: Computing Sciences & Information Technology (i.e. Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT Networking, Cybersecurity, etc.); Mathematics & Data Science (i.e. Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, etc.) or similar program(s)
• Preferred (but not required) experience with: Any projects or coursework related to Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Large Language models, transformers.
• High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program).
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences and interface with staff at all levels of the company.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail changing environment and deliver high-quality work product.
• Ability to work well in a team establishing good working relationships with peers.
• Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and prioritization skills.
• Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
• Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently, as well as on intra- and inter- departmental teams as needed.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
• Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training courses as needed.
