Job summary

Philz Coffee in Oakland is hiring for a friendly, customer-focused Barista. You’ll be active all day making drinks, preparing food orders, and handling the register, while embodying Philz core values.

No prior barista experience is required—training is provided. You’ll need a valid Food Handler or Food Manager Certification, flexibility in your schedule, and the ability to work 16–24 hours with a potential tip pool boosting earnings.

You'll be active all day with many responsibilities, including making drinks, preparing food orders, working the register, cleaning and stocking. To ensure the well being of our team members and community, proof of a valid Food Handler Certification or Food Manager Certification is required at the time of hire.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to:

• Operate a variety of machines, tools, and equipment
• Visual acuity to make general observations in regards to safety and accuracy of work
• Remain in a stationary position for a minimum of 3 hours
• Stand, walk, stoop, and kneel
• Lift up to 50 pounds intermittently, lift 3 pounds to shoulder height repetitively
• Grasp, finger, and reach
• Express or exchange information by means of the spoken word

A reasonable estimate of the starting base hourly rate for this role is $20.50 to $21.50. Team Members also participate in a tip pool and may earn an average of $6.00 additional per hour.
