Job summary

ORNL Federal Credit Union seeks a Collections Specialist I to contact delinquent members, arrange payment plans, and document interactions in the core collection system. You will also perform skip traces and review loan documentation to locate our members who cannot be reached.

The role requires at least 1 year of banking or credit union collections experience, with preferred additional experience in collections environments, and a High School Diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of banking or credit union collections experience.
• One or more years of experience in banking collections preferred.

Responsibilities

• Outbounds calls to delinquent members and documents interactions, payment arrangements, and action plans in the collections system.
• Perform skip traces for unreached members and review loan documentation to locate and contact the member.

Role:

The Collections Specialist I is responsible for collecting delinquent payments and providing member service regarding collection issues.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Performs outbound calls on delinquent members, services inbound calls, accurately documents member interactions, payment arrangements, and action plans in the core collection platform.
• Skip traces for members that the Credit Union hasn’t been successful in reaching; reviews loan documentation, leverages skip trace platorm(s) and references prior collection notes in an effort to reach the member.
• Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of experience processing transactions and delivering customer/member service in a banking or credit union environment Required
• One or more years of experience in a banking or credit union collections environment Preferred

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED Required

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
