Job summary

Summer Garden Food Manufacturing in Boardman, OH is seeking a Cold Selector Receiver for the 1st shift. Responsible for picking products from the freezer/cooler, receiving frozen/refrigerated goods, conducting daily cycle counts, and replenishing pick bins.

Responsibilities

• Select pick ticket from designated area (Freezer/Cooler).
• Record picker number/name on order and scan bar codes.
• Pull items and pack for shipping, ensuring no damage in transit.
• Pack and label pallets, verify items on the pick ticket are on the pallet.
• Wrap and stage orders for pickup; review vendor Bills of Lading and PO paperwork.
• Enter case quantities and lot codes into Great Plains via handheld scanner.
• Put away and replenish freight and rotate stock per procedures.
• Assist in physical inventory counts and ensure proper bin locations and lot codes.
• Perform warehouse housekeeping and safety duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Responsible for picking products from the freezer and cooler, assist with receive frozen and refrigerated product, assist with daily cycle counts in freezer/cooler, assist in putting away products in freezer/cooler, and replenishing pick bins. Assist in loading trucks when needed. Maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment. This position reports to the Receiving Supervisor and is based out of our Boardman, OH location.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Select pick ticket from designated area (Freezer/Cooler)
• Record picker number/name on order
• Scan top bar code with handheld scanner
• Pull all items on the order using handheld scanners and properly pack for shipping
• Responsible to pack all items to ensure that no damage is incurred during transit
• Verify that all items on the pick ticket are on the pallet
• Assure pallets are properly stacked and labeled
• In a timely manner wrap and stage order in designated area preparing same for pickup
• Upon delivery from vendors or transfers, review the Bill of Ladings and paperwork from carriers and or drivers. Compare vendor’s packing slips with the company’s PO paperwork for correct case quantities and product description
• Review all paperwork prior to receiving product
• Make adjustments on purchase orders when necessary; communicate with Purchasing Manager any changes to order for a revised purchase order to be created
• Enter the correct case quantity and lot codes from the PO into Great Plains through hand held scanner
• Make adjustments on transfer orders when necessary; communicate with Warehouse Manager any changes to order for a revised transfer order
• Enter the correct case quantity and lot codes from the transfer into Great Plains through hand held scanner
• Put away and replenish freight in proper pick bin or back up location making sure to rotate the product according to the proper procedures.

INVENTORY AND CYCLE COUNTS: (Freezer/Cooler)

• Assist in counting of physical inventory
• Assure proper bin locations of products
• Verify correct Lot Codes
• Enter counts on Cycle Count Sheets or hand held scanner

May be assigned, as needed, the following duties:

• Sweeping, dusting and mopping of work areas
• Organizing the warehouse and work area(s) for orderliness

Responsible to work safely 100% of the time:

• Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for company employees and customer traffic
• Must wear proper safety equipment including steel toe shoes

ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Graduate or G.E.D. or minimum of 2 years warehouse experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Must be in good physical shape with high stamina and dexterity
• Able to lift 50 lbs. plus (+)
• Ability to climb various types of ladders
• Good hand dexterity with both hands
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Able to bend and stoop easily
• Excellent eye sight with very good peripheral vision
• Able to work long hours when necessary; work overtime hours when it is needed
• Able to physically withstand extreme warehouse temperatures of cold. 95% of job is performed within freezer (-20 degrees) and/or cooler (34 degrees).

EQUIPMENT CERTIFICATION: (Company will assist and/or train)

• Forklift (Company to provide certification upon hire)
• Pallet Jacks
• Electric and manual jacks
