Job summary

Advocate Health Care’s Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL seeks a Full-time Food Service Worker for the Nutrition Services department. The role focuses on quality food preparation, accurate recipe execution, and maintaining safety and sanitation standards for patient and retail meals.

The position requires 1 year healthcare/trayline experience, a high school diploma, and strong English communication. Shift is 6a-2:30p with benefits eligible and 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Uses standardized recipes and ingredients for trayline and retail.
• Follows proper preparation procedures.
• Checks food temperatures, texture, color, aroma and taste before service.
• Contributes to hospital's mission statement and values in all interactions.
• Follows uniform policy.
• Maintains a professional image.
• Responds positively to all requests and interactions.
• Proper food rotation (FIFO).
• Safe storage; label and date all items; avoid cross-contamination.
• Utilizes products within 48 hours of preparation date.
• Records cold holding food temperatures every two hours.
• Follows position timeline and routines.
• Efficient use of non-break time.
• Records all food production amounts.
• Maintains department timeline with on-time performance.
• Attends scheduled department inservices.
• Participates in production meetings and provides feedback.
• Cross-trains in all production positions.
• Assists with cross-training of other employees.
• Reports problems with recipes and production sheets promptly.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English; communicate effectively.
• Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds occasionally and/or 35 to 50 pounds frequently.

Major Responsibilities

Quality Food Preparation

• 1)utilizes standardized recipes and ingredient control for trayline and retail
• 2)follows proper preparation procedures
• 3)checks food temperatures, texture, color, aroma and taste prior to service.

Guest Relations

Safe Food Handling Procedures

• 1)proper food rotation (first in first out)
• 2)safe food storage (no cross-contamination); label and date all food items
• 3)utilizes products within 48 hours of preparation date
• 4)records and documents cold holding food temperatures every two hours

Proper Time Management

• 1)follows position timeline/job routine
• 2)safe food storage (no cross-contamination); label and date all food items
• 3)productive and efficient use of non-break time

Responsible Cost Controls

• 1)records all food production amounts
• 2)manintains department timeline through on-time performance

Training

• 1)attends scheduled department inservices
• 2)attends/gives feedback participates in production meetings
• 3)successfully cross-trains in all production positions

Education/Experience Required

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
