Job summary

Johnson Controls is hiring a Coil Builder for the 3rd Shift in York, PA. This full-time role involves assembling coils per specification, labeling parts, and moving coils with cranes, while maintaining safe operations and accurate production records.

You will work with a cross-functional team in a manufacturing setting, reinforcing quality and safety standards and contributing to our Zero Harm policy while gaining on-the-job training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Read and write English.
• Prior machine operating experience REQUIRED.
• Familiarity with safety policies and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Identify proper parts from specification sheet and assemble per spec.
• Builds frame; installs fins, tubes, hardware, and other parts.
• Label coils with build day and Mfg #; move coils with cranes.
• Complete quality paperwork and daily hours; inspect coils for defects.
• Train new or existing employees if necessary; maintain clean work area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identifies proper parts to complete assemblies by reading specification sheet.
• Assembles parts to specification.
• Builds frame; installs fins, tubes, hardware, and other purchased parts into coil body per specification
• Correctly labels coils with build day and Mfg #.
• Moves and repositions coils to the expansion area using cranes.
• Completes appropriate paperwork to include quality sticker and daily hours.
• Inspect coils for split collars, dented hairpins and damaged fins.
• Reworks or disassembles coils that have been damaged or built incorrectly.
• Utilizes basic hand tools such as pliers, wrenches and hand drills.
• Trains new or existing employees, if necessary.
• Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
• Wears all required PPE.
• Performs other routine duties.
• Responsible for reporting work related injuries and near misses to supervision.
• Responsible for wearing all required PPE and following applicable safety/environmental rules.
• Responsible for correcting or reporting unsafe conditions observed within the plant.

MATH ABILITY

• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Education preferred
• Read and write English
• Knowledge of company safety policies
• Able to read Tape measure
• Prior Machine Operating experience REQUIRED
