Job summary
Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Cognizant System Engineer to support the Weapons Engineering Tritium Facility and operate as a technical authority for critical safety systems. You will lead system modifications, design reviews, and ensure regulatory compliance under DOE/NNSA requirements in a high-hazard facility.
The role requires broad engineering expertise, mentoring, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across project lifecycles.
Qualifications
- Broad and deep engineering expertise across facility systems and project work.
- Experience applying DOE/NNSA requirements and industry codes/standards.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior engineering expertise and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Lead portions of engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop and review conceptual and detailed engineering designs for compliance.
- Assess condition and performance of facility systems and infrastructure.
- Produce engineering design deliverables and technical documentation.
