Cognitive Services Assistant (Full Time)

With guidance and direction from the Cognitive Services Manager, the Cognitive Services Assistant is responsible for supporting, planning, and organizing Williamsburg Landing programs and services to enhance and maintain cognition including natural age-related changes throughout the dementia spectrum.

Pay rate for this position starts at $18.00/hr. and is commensurate with experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Develops, implements, and facilitates individual, small and large group memory support and cognitive enhancement programs
• Provides support, insight, and professional suggestions to residents, caregivers and families
• Facilitates resident and family consultations and Caregiver's Support Group, as needed
• Develops communications and promotional materials that encourage residents to attend and participate in cognitive enhancement and memory supported programs and activities
• Communicates changes in the residents' condition or behavior pattern to the appropriate team member(s)
• Provides dementia-related training and education programs as needed.
• Collaborates with other Williamsburg Landing departments, including but not limited to the Nursing department, medical teams, Clinic, Social Workers, Dining Services and Activities staff, to meet resident needs
• Attends and contributes to the resident review team, “Care Plan,” and new admission meetings as necessary
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in related field, preferred
• 1-2 years of experience within aging services or behavioral health and developmental services

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Comprehensive knowledge of Alzheimer's disease and dementia-related issues
• General knowledge of psycho-social needs of adults in varying stages of dementia; comprehensive knowledge of therapeutic programs that meet specific individual needs
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others to develop innovative and effective programs for residents in varying stages of illness
• Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and respond appropriately in the event of an emergency
• Proficiency in Google Suite, MS Office and internet based research
