Piñón Coffee House in Rio Rancho, NM seeks a Team Lead to support the Store Manager, guide the barista team, and help deliver a welcoming coffee experience.

As a natural leader, you will mentor staff, manage daily café operations, ensure a clean and safe environment, and handle opening/closing duties as a keyholder, with wage plus tips.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service, coffee, or customer service.
• Food handler’s certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Great attitude and willingness to learn.
• Tech-savvy and comfortable using POS systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example, ensuring every customer receives efficient, friendly, superior service with a “customer first” mindset.
• Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily café operations and step in as lead when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, inclusive, and organized café environment.
• Train, coach, and develop team members to deliver quality drinks and service.
• Communicate promotions, product knowledge, and company goals effectively to the team.
• Act as a keyholder, helping with opening/closing responsibilities and protecting both product and people.
• Use checklists and standard procedures to execute smooth, quality shifts.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, and managing café supplies.

Our mission is simple: “Enriching lives through the love of coffee.” As a Team Lead, you’ll play a vital role in shaping our café culture—supporting the Store Manager, guiding the barista team, and making sure every customer leaves with a smile (and maybe a bag of our legendary coffee).

What You’ll Do

Lead by example, ensuring every customer receives efficient, friendly, superior service with a “customer first” mindset.

Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily café operations and step in as lead when needed.

Maintain a clean, safe, inclusive, and organized café environment.

Train, coach, and develop team members to deliver quality drinks and service.

Communicate promotions, product knowledge, and company goals effectively to the team.

Act as a keyholder, helping with opening/closing responsibilities and protecting both product and people.

Use checklists and standard procedures to execute smooth, quality shifts.

What We’re Looking For

A natural leader with strong people skills, able to stay calm and positive in a fast-paced environment.

Dependable, punctual, and committed to being a reliable part of the team.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for an entire shift, and perform physical tasks (bending, reaching, pulling, etc.).

Experience in food service, coffee, or customer service is a plus—but a great attitude and willingness to learn go even further!

Food handler’s certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).

Tech-friendly and comfortable using Point-of-Sale systems.
