Company Description

It started with a simple idea: what if surgery could be less invasive and recovery less painful? Nearly 30 years later, that question still fuels everything we do at Intuitive. As a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, our technologies—like the da Vinci surgical system and Ion—have transformed how care is delivered for millions of patients worldwide.

We’re a team of engineers, clinicians, and innovators united by one purpose: to make surgery smarter, safer, and more human. Every day, our work helps care teams perform with greater precision and patients recover faster, improving outcomes around the world.

The problems we solve demand creativity, rigor, and collaboration. The work is challenging, but deeply meaningful—because every improvement we make has the potential to change a life.

If you’re ready to contribute to something bigger than yourself and help transform the future of healthcare, you’ll find your purpose here.

Job Description

Primary Function of Position

The Make Center of Excellence (COE) Staff Business Systems Analyst is an integral part of the Global Operations team, accountable for architecting the future-state, digitally enabled business processes that anchor Intuitive's Manufacturing (Make) execution system and Industry 4.0 transformation. This role leads current-state assessment, future-state process design, and development of User Requirements Specifications (URS) that translate manufacturing business needs into the technical solution, partnering closely with IT and execution teams and remaining engaged as an accountable partner through implementation and Go-Live. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of manufacturing process models (batch, serialized, high volume/low mix, low volume/high mix) to translate operational realities into scalable, standardized global processes, and combines strength in process definition with the influence and change management skill to align manufacturing business end users, functional stakeholders around a common future state.

  • Lead current-state assessment and future-state business process design for Manufacturing (Make) digital transformation initiatives, applying knowledge of manufacturing process models (batch, serialized, high volume/low mix, low volume/high mix) to ensure designs reflect real production environments
  • Author and own User Requirements Specifications (URS) that translate future-state process design into clear, testable requirements for the SAP S/4HANA and SAP ME technical solution, anchoring solution selection, configuration, and validation.
  • Facilitate design and blueprinting workshops with cross-functional stakeholders — Finance, Quality, Engineering, Planning, Warehouse/Logistics, and manufacturing site operations — using a SCOR-based framework to align process decisions across dependent workstreams
  • Engage directly with manufacturing business end users to understand current-state processes and pain points, and translate those needs into standardized future-state designs.
  • Lead global process standardization efforts, resolving conflicting site-level requirements in favor of a scalable, harmonized global design.
  • Own and approve future-state process maps and URS content prior to handoff to the execution/build team, escalating scope, cost, or design trade-offs to COE Make leadership when needed.
  • Drive organizational change management and stakeholder influence efforts to build alignment and adoption of new standardized processes, without formal authority over the teams involved.
  • Advise IT and execution teams on enterprise and execution system configuration options against business requirements, and validate solution designs and fit-gap analyses against the approved URS.
  • Monitor industry trends (Industry 4.0, AI, IoT) and manufacturing best practices to continually inform future-state design choices.
  • Remain engaged as an accountable partner through implementation, Go-Live, and Hypercare, partnering with the execution team to ensure delivered solutions match the intended design, without owning hands-on system build or configuration.
  • Land the initial pilot rollout and drive global solution adoption and process harmonization on subsequent rollouts
  • Align future-state designs and URS to ISA-95 and Intuitive's quality system, support test-script and UAT traceability back to the URS, and mentor junior business systems analysts and site process owners on future-state design and URS authoring.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in business process definition, architecture, or business systems analysis within Manufacturing, Engineering, or Supply Chain, including experience with large-scale ERP and/or MES business processes (e.g., SAP or similar enterprise platforms)
  • Demonstrated strength in process definition and business process mapping (BPMN), with experience applying structured blueprinting frameworks such as SCOR and ISA-95 to manufacturing transformation initiatives.
  • Experience authoring User Requirements Specifications (URS) that anchor solution design, configuration, and validation in a regulated manufacturing environment; working knowledge of leading ERP and MES platforms and their manufacturing execution modules (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP ME, or equivalent systems) and process modeling tools such as Signavio.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing process models and technologies (batch, serialized, high volume/low mix, low volume/high mix) and the ability to translate them into scalable, standardized future-state process designs
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end business processes in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams — Finance, Quality, Engineering, Planning, Warehouse/Logistics, and manufacturing operations — through complex, multi-site process design and standardization efforts, without formal authority.
  • Strong stakeholder influence, facilitation, and organizational change management skills, with demonstrated ability to align manufacturing business end users around standardized global processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including gap analysis and root-cause analysis, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

Required Education and Training

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, information technology, business, or related discipline.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with advanced technologies such as AI, IoT, and process/task mining in a manufacturing or supply chain context.
  • Experience working for a global organization across multiple functions, regions, and manufacturing sites.
  • Demonstrated application of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies, with Lean Six Sigma certification a plus
  • Formal training or certification in a change management methodology and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple concurrent initiatives.
