Job summary

Vistar Eye Center in Roanoke, VA is seeking a detail-oriented Coding/Insurance Coordinator to support patients with insurance benefits, billing questions, and financial arrangements. This full-time role works with insurance companies and internal teams to ensure accurate billing, coding, and account management.

The position offers day shifts with on-the-job training, health insurance available immediately, and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of medical office experience involving insurance preferred.
• Experience with medical billing and coding CPT/ICD-10 preferred.
• One year of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code and enter surgical charges.
• Review claims and billing reports for accuracy and correct billing edits.
• Process insurance claims, payments, transfers, and surgical charges.
• Serve as a resource regarding insurance claims, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor outstanding insurance and patient accounts and follow up on unpaid balances.
• Assist with charge distribution, co-management, and compliance audits.
• Answer patient billing questions and assist with payment arrangements.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and financial information.
