Job summary

Lee Health in Florida is seeking a remote Coding Specialist to join the Coding department. This full-time role abstracts data from medical records into Epic and 3M 360 and codes diagnoses and procedures per ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 guidelines.

Requirements include a high school diploma, at least 1 year of outpatient coding experience, and one coding certification (CPC, COC, CPC-P, CRC, CIC, CCS, RHIT or RHIA).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of outpatient coding experience.
• Minimum one coding certification (CPC, COC, CPC-P, CRC, CIC, CCS, RHIT or RHIA).
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines.
• Experience coding SDS, Observation, ED, Diagnostic and Ancillary records.

Responsibilities

• Abstract data from medical records into Epic and 3M 360 to provide detailed case summaries.
• Identify primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures according to coding guidelines.
• Code data for SDS, Observation, ED and related records as required.
• Follow government and payer guidelines for APC assignments.

Summary

Abstracts data from medical records into Epic and 3M 360 to provide a detailed case summary of medical, demographic, and statistical information. Identifies and codes diagnoses and procedures for medical records according to ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 guidelines, including department modifications. Identifies primary diagnosis and procedure as well as pertinent secondary diagnoses and procedures Follows procedures mandated by government and other payers for completion of coded data including APC assignments.

Facility Specific: Responsible for coding SDS, Observation, and as needed ED, Diagnostic, and Ancillary records.

Professional Fee Specific: Responsible for coding Surgical Records, Evaluation & Management Encounters, ED (with E&M) and as needed Diagnostic, Documentation Quality Assurance, and Ancillary records.

Requirements

Education:High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:Minimum of 1 Year of outpatient multidisciplinary coding and or Provider E&M Level of Service Coding (Professional Fee Only) experience required.

Certification:Minimum one coding certification required (listed below). Other specialty certifications from AAPC or AHIMA will be considered.
