Job summary

Lee County Government seeks a proactive Code Enforcement Supervisor to lead a team of Specialists, ensuring safe, compliant neighborhoods and orderly development. You will coach staff, review cases, and coordinate with residents, contractors, and businesses to resolve violations.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in construction or related field and at least one year in code compliance or permitting, plus a valid driver’s license. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in construction or closely related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in construction, code compliance, permitting, zoning, or related field.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors, perform field inspections, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience presenting cases in hearings is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate Code Enforcement Specialists.
  • Plan and assign daily fieldwork, review cases for accuracy, ensure enforcement procedures are followed.
  • Oversee complex compliance cases and provide guidance on regulations, permitting, and building requirements.
  • Review and approve notices of violation, citations, and related documents.
  • Interact with residents, property owners, contractors, and businesses to explain violations and guide them toward compliance.
  • Prepare and present cases before the Hearing Examiner or other legal proceedings.
  • Attend community meetings to educate the public and assist with neighborhood concerns.
  • Coordinate with other departments and agencies to resolve violations and streamline compliance.
  • Assist with ordinance updates based on field trends and interpretations.
  • Maintain reports, records, and field documentation.
  • Work occasional after-hours, weekend, or holiday shifts when needed.

As a Code Enforcement Supervisor, you’ll oversee a team of Code Enforcement Specialists and support critical work that protects property values, promotes responsible development, and ensures Lee County continues to be a great place to live, work, and visit.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys leading teams, solving problems, and working directly with residents, contractors, and businesses to support a clean, safe, and thriving community.

What You Will Do
  • Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate Code Enforcement Specialists.

  • Oversee complex or sensitive compliance cases and provide guidance on regulations, permitting, and building requirements.

  • Interact with residents, property owners, contractors, architects, and businesses to explain violations and guide them toward compliance.
  • Prepare and present cases before the Hearing Examiner or other legal proceedings.

  • Assist with ordinance updates based on field trends and code interpretations.
  • Maintain reports, records, and field documentation.

What We’re Looking For
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in construction or a closely related field.
  • One year of experience in general construction, code compliance, permitting, zoning, or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors, perform field inspections, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience preparing documentation or presenting cases in hearings is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

  • Flexibility to work varied schedules when needed
Work Environment

Primarily office-based with some fieldwork; may require occasional evening or weekend hours.

Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, standard business hours. Some after-hours, weekend, or holiday work may be required.
