Job summary

BCG Attorney Search seeks a Code Enforcement Attorney in California with 3–6 years of experience to provide strategic representation to public safety agencies. You will join a collaborative team advising on constitutional policing, liability exposure, and regulatory compliance.

You will draft policies, guide enforcement practices, and participate in investigations and regulatory proceedings while interfacing with officials and command staff. A California Bar license is required.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience advising public safety agencies on legal and regulatory matters.
  • Strong knowledge of constitutional law, civil rights litigation, and law enforcement code practices.
  • Excellent writing, research, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter, and team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to manage matters independently and interface with public officials and agency personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Advise law enforcement on use of force, policing, liability exposure, and risk management.
  • Represent agencies in administrative proceedings, including officer discipline and appeals.
  • Draft policies, procedures, and training materials related to law enforcement practices.
  • Assist with internal investigations and personnel matters, including background investigations and disciplinary actions.
  • Prepare legal opinions, memoranda, and reports for agency leadership and governing bodies.
  • Attend and present at city council, board, and commission meetings as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas on labor, employment, litigation, and regulatory compliance.
