Job summary

Sarasota County Public Utilities seeks a Code Compliance Inspector to verify adherence to County standards and regulations on private developments, public infrastructure, and treatment facilities. You will review plans, inspect water and utility projects, coordinate with engineers, contractors, and departments, and help ensure safe, compliant infrastructure for our community.

Requires a High School Diploma and utility inspection experience; a Florida driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Four years of utility construction work and/or inspection and testing.
  • Two years in utility inspecting, design, or construction experience.
  • Florida Driver's License at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect utility and development projects for compliance with approved plans, County standards, and regulations.
  • Review engineered plans, specifications and permits for adherence to design requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, developers, property owners and County departments.
  • Conduct field inspections of water, wastewater, reclaimed water and utility infrastructure during construction.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and enforce codes and permitting requirements.
