Job summary

The City of Waco seeks a proactive and experienced leader to oversee the Code Enforcement Program. The manager will supervise staff, manage daily operations, enforce ordinances protecting health, safety, and community standards, and report to the Director.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least five years in housing, property management, or code enforcement with supervisory experience; a Texas driver’s license and relevant licenses will be required within a year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum five years of housing, commercial property management, code enforcement, or related field with three years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License and applicable professional licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Code Enforcement division, enforcing ordinances related to land use, housing, health and safety.
  • Supervises code enforcement staff; schedules, assigns, and evaluates program activities.
  • Represents the City in court when necessary and communicates with residents on code issues.
  • Develops goals, reviews policies, and recommends ordinance updates to address nuisances.
  • Manages budget, reports, and coordinates inspections and investigations.

Bachelor's degree in construction or Property Management, Building Inspection, Civil Engineering, Criminal Justice, Business or Public Administration, or related field
State Code Enforcement Officer License
International Property Maintenance Code Certification (within 1 year)
