Join BairesDev, a global technology leader delivering large-scale mainframe solutions. We are seeking a skilled COBOL Programmer to maintain and modernize critical IBM mainframe applications used in banking and government sectors.

In this role you will design, develop, and optimize COBOL batch and online processing, manage CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM, and work with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specs. Excellent English required; 100% remote work.

As a COBOL Programmer, you will maintain and modernize critical applications on IBM mainframes. What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance COBOL applications for batch and online processing.
• Manage and optimize mainframe components including CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM.
• Analyze complex legacy codebases to identify and implement modernization and optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and updates.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot defects to ensure the reliability of mission-critical systems.
• Document system changes and workflows to preserve institutional knowledge and support long-term maintainability.

What We Are Looking For

• 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Mainframe Development, or Systems Programming.
• Proven expertise in maintaining and modernizing COBOL applications on IBM mainframes.
• Proficiency in mainframe technologies including CICS, DB2, JCL, and VSAM.
• Hands-on experience with both batch and online transaction processing systems.
• Strong analytical skills for debugging and optimizing legacy codebases.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
