Job summary

Mindlance is seeking a COBOL Mainframe Developer to support Enterprise Deposits / Data Distributor in Minneapolis, MN. This role offers a hybrid work model (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) and requires hands-on COBOL development on mainframe systems, strong maintenance and troubleshooting skills, VSAM experience, and the ability to understand legacy Assembler code when needed.

Job description

Job title: COBOL Mainframe Developer – Enterprise Deposits / Data Distributor

Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid working model – 3 days onsite/2 days remote)

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with COBOL development in a mainframe environment.
• Strong application maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
• Hands-on experience working with VSAM.
• Working knowledge of Assembler and the ability to understand and modify legacy Assembler code when required.
• Experience working with large, complex, and long-standing mainframe applications.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand existing code and safely implement enhancements.
• Strong coding skills with attention to quality and application stability.
• Ability to learn complex applications and business processes quickly.
• Strong ability to retain technical and business knowledge shared by senior team members.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision after training.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Data Distributor or similar enterprise data distribution applications.
• Experience with Enterprise Deposits or banking applications.
• Experience with Share Draft or similar deposit-related applications.
• Experience with BU Base Entry Platform or similar mainframe applications.
• Experience with Tosca or other test automation tools.
• Experience supporting production issues as a development team member.
• Experience working in environments containing decades-old legacy codebases.
