Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. is seeking a maintenance/chemical room operative on the 1ST SHIFT (USA) with a Monday–Friday schedule. The role requires cleaning duties across multiple rooms, daily setter checks, and adherence to chemical, PPE, and sanitation inventory practices.

Reading and basic math are essential, with 40 hours per week and potential holiday work. Minimum 6 months related experience preferred; Excel familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean chemical room, chiller pad, offal room, muffler room, parking lot, and outside building weekly.
• Setter checks, check all Lafferty systems and refills daily, treat drains weekly, change filters bi-weekly.
• Proper inventory practices-Chemical, PPE, Sanitation, etc.
• Stocks labs and puts up stock.
• Fill in for 2nd and 3rd shift.
• Must be able to read, write and perform basic math.

Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the last 6 months, a point level = 6 attendance points and 6 months in current area unless the TM is promoting, then less than 6 months in current area is allowable.

Hours

Start time is 7:00am until 3:00pm. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs. This position averages 40 hours per week and includes working holidays.

Position Summary

• This position is responsible for many different tasks/duties, please see the “essential duties and responsibilities” for more details. This position will check in daily with management regarding the day’s tasks/duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean chemical room, chiller pad, offal room, muffler room, parking lot, and outside building weekly. (20%)
• Setter checks, check all Lafferty systems and refills daily, treat drains weekly, change filters bi-weekly. (25%)
• Proper inventory practices-Chemical, PPE, Sanitation, etc. (20%)

Other duties, responsibilities and activities

• These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: operate a high pressure and regular water hose, general sanitation, pre-pull, and support with breakouts. (5%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements/Safety

• The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly pull empty farm and setter buggies on casters weighing approximately 200 pounds. Must regularly push/pull setter buggies on casters weighing up to 700-1300 pounds. Must occasionally lift chick boxes weighing approximately 15 pounds. Must be able to regularly bend, stoop and reach above head. Must be able to obtain scissor lift certification. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit;use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Must have good communication skills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.
• Tools and Equipment: Farm and setter buggies, pallet jack, foamer, high pressure, water hose, floor scrubber, scale and thermometer.
• Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
• Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles, face shield, chemical/rubber gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required. Ear plugs and NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed. Safety glasses are required.
• Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants and foamers.
• Safety: Will be trained to recognize and comply with all safety policies. Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include, but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
