Job summary

Peyton Resource Group is seeking an experienced 3rd Shift HFC/Coaxial Cable Splicer to support Network Evolution projects in the Buffalo, NY area. This hands-on role focuses on hardline coax splicing, RF balancing, troubleshooting, and overnight cutovers in live HFC networks.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of HFC maintenance or coaxial cable splicing experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Overtime and extensive travel are common.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of HFC maintenance or coaxial cable splicing experience.
• Experience on live HFC broadband networks.
• Strong understanding of RF signal flow and HFC network architecture.
• Experience with hardline coax preparation and splicing.
• Experience with RF balancing, sweep verification, and signal-level testing.
• Ability to read and interpret system maps and engineering prints.
• Valid driver's license and ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Comfortable with 3rd shift and extensive travel.

Responsibilities

• Splice feeder and distribution hardline coaxial cable.
• Replace amplifiers, line extenders, nodes, passives, splitters, couplers, and power supplies.
• Perform Network Evolution upgrades, plant rearrangements, and network cutovers.
• Prepare, splice, activate, and restore network services during scheduled maintenance windows.
• Perform RF balancing and signal optimization.
• Troubleshoot ingress, egress, MER, SNR, tilt, and signal level issues.
• Read system maps, engineering prints, and construction documentation.
• Perform outage restoration and emergency response as needed.
• Document completed work, testing, and materials.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, construction, engineering, and project teams.

3rd Shift Network Evolution Coaxial Cable Splicer

We are hiring an experienced HFC/Coaxial Cable Splicer to support Network Evolution projects in the Buffalo, NY area.

This is a hands‑on field position focused on hardline coax splicing, HFC maintenance, equipment replacements, RF balancing, troubleshooting, and overnight network cutovers. We are looking for experienced splicers who can work independently in live HFC networks and complete maintenance work safely and on schedule.

What You'll Do

• Splice feeder and distribution hardline coaxial cable
• Replace amplifiers, line extenders, nodes, passives, splitters, couplers, and power supplies
• Perform Network Evolution upgrades, plant rearrangements, and network cutovers
• Prepare, splice, activate, and restore network services during scheduled maintenance windows
• Perform RF balancing and signal optimization
• Troubleshoot ingress, egress, MER, SNR, tilt, and signal level issues
• Read system maps, engineering prints, and construction documentation
• Perform outage restoration and emergency response as needed

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of HFC maintenance or coaxial cable splicing experience
• Experience working on live HFC broadband networks
• Strong understanding of RF signal flow and HFC network architecture
• Experience with hardline coax preparation and splicing
• Experience with RF balancing, sweep verification, and signal‑level testing
• Experience troubleshooting forward and return paths
• Ability to read and interpret system maps and engineering prints
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work from poles, ladders, bucket trucks, aerial plant, and underground areas
• Must be comfortable working 3rd shift and extensive travel

Schedule & Pay

• $34–$40/hr
• Targeting $36–$38/hr
• 3rd shift, typically 9:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Sunday–Thursday or project-specific schedules
• Overtime frequently available
• On-call rotation during major outages
• Extensive travel based on project needs
• Company truck and gas card provided

Preferred Experience

• Comcast, Cox, Altice, or Mediacom experience
• Overnight maintenance window cutovers
• Bucket truck certification
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
• CDL
• Fiber optic experience

Candidates should live within approximately 1–1.5 hours of Buffalo.
