The Coating Applicator Apprentice role trains individuals to support certified applicators and crew leads in surface prep, coating, equipment handling, and safety on water and wastewater projects.

The position emphasizes hands-on learning, travel up to 90% locally and out of state, and growth within the industrial coatings trade.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
• Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors.
• Reliable transportation to job sites.
• Ability to travel 90%+.

Responsibilities

• Assist surface preparation such as pressure washing, sanding, grinding, and masking.
• Support coating equipment setup and cleanup.
• Learn coating application with brush, roller, or spray under supervision.
• Mix coatings per specifications under crew guidance.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE.
• Assist environmental monitoring (dew point, temperature, humidity).
• Maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Be punctual, eager to learn, and contribute to daily logs.
• Travel 90%+ for local and out-of-state projects.
