Job summary

TrueNorth Steel – Billings is seeking a Coating Applicator Team Lead to oversee coating operations, ensure quality control, and drive safety on the shop floor in Billings, MT. You will coordinate surface prep, coating application, and inspections while managing a team of applicators.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and adherence to company safety and quality policies, with a focus on reducing production costs without compromising product integrity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years' experience in a related field preferred.
• Experience in coating/pain line operations.
• Ability to read SDS and Product Data Sheets.
• Mentor and train lower-level applicators.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate activities of production employees in the coating area.
• Manage surface preparation, coating application, and inspections to meet quality specs.
• Ensure safety and maintain a clean, safe work environment; lead by example.
• Conduct one-on-one discussions and performance reviews with shop floor staff.
• Review labor reporting and payroll time sheets; manage PTO requests.
